The Crown and Anchor prides itself on its locally sourced produce served midday to 9.30pm daily (Except 9pm on Sundays). This means fine fresh fish from the English Channel, best quality meat, char-grilled steaks, home made dishes and fresh Sussex vegetables all cooked in an open-plan kitchen.
If you’re making a leisurely start to the day, breakfast at the Crown and Anchor, served from 10.00 a.m. till 12.30pm daily. See our breakfast menu for more details.
The restaurant has built up a reputation as a great dining experience and its prices are affordable. Local people dine regularly and other customers join them from all over the county. There is a winter menu and summer menu, a choice of vegetarian dishes, and of course an excellent daily specials board.
I found out through the grapevine that Giles, a long-term friend, with his wife Sandra had acquired The Crown & Anchor in November 2007.
I came to the pub to wish him luck and we were soon talking about me getting involved in the kitchen.
We had a clear view from the start where we wanted to go with the food, daily deliveries, good quality ingredients, lots of fish, steaks from Smithfield, cooked to order without fussiness along with rustic ploughman’s and salads. I have been a chef all my life and it is a pleasure to be involved in a well run and successful operation with a great team I can rely on in the kitchen.
Great recipes, special menus and job vacancies will be updated on twitter regularly, along with any questions that you want to ask about our menus.
